Back from Holiday Breakfast Fly-In

On Saturday, 24 January, Jack Taylor Airfield was buzzing with renewed energy. It was Chapter 973’s first official fly-in and what a fun day it turned out to be.

Below we have some wonderful pictures taken at the event and be sure to have a look at our latest newsletter for January 2026, that has lots more news and information inside.

EAA Sun ‘n Fun 2025

10 to 12 October

EAA once again held their annual Sun ‘n Fun Flying Festival at Airspan Executive Airfield , situated near Rustenburg. The facility makes for an ideal venue for a fly-in – large covered area for shelter from rain and sun, catering facilities, camping areas plus the most beautiful scenery north of Johannesburg!
Just over 70 aircraft attended the event, with many aviators camping over for the weekend. Competitions included a navigation Rally, a STOL and Spot Landing competition, aircraft judging and the ever popular Cleco contest.

Presentations included Megan Stevenson ‘ Pilot Error, it’s not what you think’, Steve McCurrack ‘The Bateleurs’, Andrea Antyl ‘Easy Cockpit’ and Chris Theodosi ‘Piston Engine Oils’.
Thanks to EAA stalwart Nigel Musgrave, the event was safe with no incidents reported!
Looking forward to next year’s event!
